About
Education and Experience
Prof. Maciej Kostrubiec (MD, PhD, FESC, FEACVI) is a Consultant Cardiologist at Mater Private Network in Cork.
Prof. Kostrubiec graduated from Warsaw Medical University in 2000. He completed his general medicine training in 2007 and cardiology training in 2012 at major university hospitals in Warsaw. Following this, he served as a consultant cardiologist at The Infant Jesus University Hospital in Warsaw, specializing in echocardiography and interventional cardiology, with a focus on right heart failure and venous thromboembolism. He also undertook a fellowship at the Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Unit at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. Continuing his career, he worked at Mercy University Hospital and Cork College University from 2018 to 2019. Since 2019, he has been a consultant cardiologist in the United Kingdom, first at Mid Essex Hospital NHS Trust (2019-2023) and then at Bristol Heart Institute (2023-2024), where he developed advanced skills in multimodality imaging (cardiac CT and CMR) and provided specialist services for patients with heart failure. In May 2024 he joined Mater Private Network in Cork.

Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Prof. Kostrubiec is a member of the Polish Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians, Fellow of the European Cardiac Society (FESC), Fellow of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (FEACVI) and HFA/ESC-certified specialist in heart failure. He is also an expert at The Office for Registration of Medicinal Products in Poland and The European Medicines Agency (EMA).
Prof. Kostrubiec is an internationally recognised specialist in right heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. He completed his PhD research in 2005 on the usage of biomarkers in acute pulmonary embolism. In 2013, he was honoured by the Presidents of the Polish Cardiac Society for his scientific achievements, particularly his studies on kidney dysfunction in right heart failure. In 2021, he was granted the title of Professor of Medicine and Medical Science by the President of Poland.
Teaching and Academic Leadership
As an enthusiastic educator, Prof. Kostrubiec has taught undergraduates and postgraduates at the Medical University of Warsaw, Cork College University, and NHS University Hospitals. Currently, he leads the MSc/PGDip Cardiology Programme in cooperation with the University of Buckingham and Learna.
