Mater Private Network
Mater Private Network has grown from an initial flagship hospital in Dublin to now comprise two acute hospitals (Dublin and Cork), two Day Hospitals in North and South Dublin, two advanced specialist Radiotherapy Centres in Limerick and Liverpool (UK), and a number of out-patient clinics in various regional locations.
Mater Private Network has built a strong reputation for medical innovation and the provision of high acuity care, and is a national leader for heart and cancer specialties in particular. Both Mater Private Dublin and Cork hospitals have consistently been awarded JCI Gold status since they joined this world-recognised accreditation system.
Our history
Mater Private Dublin was built on the site of No. 7 Eccles Street, the fictional home of the principal character Leopold Bloom in James Joyce's world-renowned novel Ulysses.
One of the founders of Mater Private Dublin was Sister Gemma Byrne, who became the first chief executive when the hospital opened in May 1986. Since then, our Dublin hospital has grown to offer 210 patient beds and services from over 200 leading consultants to patients from across Ireland.
Mater Private Cork, a 75-bed full-service hospital, opened its doors in 2012, and our Day Hospitals in Cherrywood and Northern Cross followed more recently in 2019. With three Outreach Clinics – in Drogheda, Mullingar, and Navan - our Network continues to expand, bringing world-class consultant-led services nearer to our patients.
Mater Private Group was acquired by InfraVia Capital Partners in 2018.
