About

Education & Experience  

Dr. FitzSimon is a consultant ophthalmologist in Mater Private Hospital where she specialises in eye laser treatment and refractive surgery. 

Dr. FitzSimon graduated from Trinity College Dublin Medical School in 1985. Her training in ophthalmology started in Cheltenham, followed by the Mater Misericordiae and Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospitals, Dublin. She undertook fellowship training in 1994 in the Mayo clinic, Rochester, taking part in international research in glaucoma and is a member of the Mayo Clinic Alumnii and the Preferred Practice for Travel in Mayo Clinic. She undertook further fellowship training in refractive surgery and laser treatment in Mater Private and Waterford Regional Hospitals and she has been a consultant in the Mater Private specialising in laser treatments since 1998. 

Dr. FitzSimon also practices at the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin and the Children’s University Hospital Temple Street. 

Clinical Research & Professional Memberships  

She has published papers and lectured on refractive surgery and laser treatments. She is a member of many professional societies including;
