About
Education & Experience
Mr Justin Chatterjee is a highly experienced Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon at Mater Private Network, Cork, with over 10 years of consultant experience.
Qualifications: MBChB(Glasg), LMCC, MSc, EurDipHandSurg(FESSH), DipHandSurg(BSSH/UoM), EBOPRAS, FRCSEd(Plast), FRCSGlasg(Plast), FICS, FRCSC, FRCSI.
Mr Chatterjee graduated from Glasgow Medical School in 2000 and completed Basic Surgical Training in 2003. He trained as a plastic surgeon for 10 years (2003-13) undertaking Higher Surgical Training in Scotland. He completed his senior three years of training (2010-2013) at the world renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow obtaining Certificate of Completion of Training and entered onto UK Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery on 1st August 2013.
He subsequently undertook a one-year Post-CCT Orthoplastic Hand Fellowship in Birmingham Hand Centre in 2013–14. Following this he undertook a one-year Post-CCT Breast Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada which also afforded further cosmetic surgery experience. Being dual fellowship trained has afforded Mr Chatterjee a breadth of expertise.
On return to the UK he was appointed in July 2015 as a Locum Consultant Burns & Plastic Surgeon at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire, prior to a substantive Consultant appointment in Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle for 2 years.
Mr Chatterjee returned to Scotland in 2017 to open a new Plastic Surgery Unit at NHS Lanarkshire in Greater Glasgow where he commenced a new Breast Reconstruction service and was Clinical Lead for Skin Cancer. Mr Chatterjee worked privately at Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow from 2019 with Circle Health Group.
Mr Chatterjee was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Cork University Hospital and South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital in 2021. He joined Mater Private Network in Cork in 2024.

His clinical practice includes Breast Reconstruction, Hand & Wrist Surgery, Skin Cancer Surgery, and Aesthetic Surgery. He has a special interest in Aesthetic Breast & Body Contouring Surgery, as well as Aesthetic Facial Surgical and Non-Surgical Treatments.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
While at Canniesburn Plastics Unit in Glasgow he was awarded a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, as well as the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
Mr Chatterjee completed the European Diploma in Hand Surgery (2013) and the British Hand Diploma (2014). Mr Chatterjee was the first Plastic Surgeon from the Pan Scotland Plastic Surgery Training Program to be awarded the British Hand Diploma.
Mr Chatterjee has several research publications and was awarded MSc in Wound Healing and Tissue Repair from Cardiff University in 2007. He is involved in Training of Plastic Surgeons, is faculty instructor on several postgraduate courses and has held honorary academic appointments at a number of universities including Dundee, Newcastle, Glasgow and is currently a Clinical Senior Lecturer at University College Cork. He is an Examiner for the BSSH / University of Manchester Hand Diploma Examination.
Mr Chatterjee holds Board Certification in Plastic Surgery by Examination from the UK & Ireland Intercollegiate Board, European and North American Health care systems.
