Education and experience
Dr. Richard Moore (MB BCh BAO MSc MRCPI FFR RCSI) is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist working in the Mater Private. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons graduate medical programme in 2010 (MB BCh BAO LRCP&I), and completed his MRCPI examinations.
He completed five years of higher specialist training in radiation oncology in the St Luke’s Network in Dublin and Galway University Hospital, graduating from the Faculty of Radiology in the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 2018 (FFR RCSI).
After qualification he worked in Cork University Hospital as a consultant before taking up a Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada.
Special Interests
Dr. Moore’s expertise includes external beam radiation treatments and brachytherapy treatments for prostate cancer. He leads the Mater Private Network brachytherapy team, a highly experienced team of physicists, radiotherapists, and nurses, offering radioactive seed implant (LDR) brachytherapy and HDR brachytherapy treatments for prostate, gynaecological and skin cancers. Additionally, he is skilled in the use of advanced radiation equipment, including intensity modulated radiation treatment (IMRT/VMAT) and image guided radiation treatment (IGRT) to deliver state of the art treatment for head and neck cancers, gynaecological cancers, and skin cancers.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Moore’s professional memberships include registration with the Irish Medical Council, Fellow of the Faculty of Radiology, in the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (FFR RCSI), and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI).
Dr. Moore worked alongside Dr. Michael Maher for two years after taking over the prostate and brachytherapy practice in Mater Private Network Dublin.
During his time in the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Dr. Moore completed a Fellowship with the Head and Neck programme and in the Lung programme, with clinic experience and research whilst there. Prior to his medical degree he also completed an undergraduate Science Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree (MSc) in Molecular Medicine in Dublin University, Trinity College Dublin.
