Education & Experience
Dr. Grzegorz Korpanty (MD, PhD) is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Mater Private Network’s Mid-Western Radiation Oncology Centre in Limerick.
He graduated from Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Poland in 1998. He completed his internship at the University Hospital in Kraków and started Internal Medicine training as well as his Ph.D. scholarship. From 2001 to 2006 he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Cardiology and in the Nancy B. and Jake L. Hamon Center for Therapeutic Oncology Research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre at Dallas, Texas, USA. He defended his Ph.D. thesis in 2005.
Dr. Korpanty completed his GCP training in internal medicine at Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) and in 2008, he started his 4 years' clinical training in medical oncology at RCPI. He worked as medical oncology registrar in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. After completion of his training in medical oncology, he completed a clinical fellowship in thoracic oncology under the supervision of Dr. Frances Shepherd in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto and GI clinical fellowship under supervision of Dr Malcolm Moore. He joined Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) in June 2015 as a Senior Fellow in the Investigational New Drug (IND) Program led by Dr. Lesley Seymour. Since 2017 he works as Consultant Medical Oncologist in the Mid-Western Cancer Centre in University Hospital Limerick (UHL).
He is an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine, University of Limerick and since January 2025 he is a Clinical Director of Cancer Services Directorate in UHL.
Special Interests
His major clinical interests are the management of lung cancer, lower gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, and melanoma.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Korpanty is a Principal Investigator of cancer clinical trials in Cancer Clinical Trial Unit (CCTU) in UHL with special interest in lung cancer and lower GI cancer. He is a member of European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
