About
Education & Experience
Dr. Daniel Galvin is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Mater Private Network, Cork.
Dr. Galvin graduated with honours from Trinity College Dublin, Medical School. Following an internship at St. James’ Hospital Dublin, he pursued basic and higher specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). During this training programme he rotated through the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital, the Rotunda Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital, Wexford General Hospital, the National Maternity Hospital (Holles St.) and Cork University Maternity Hospital.
He was the Assistant Master at the National Maternity Hospital in 2023 and Chief Resident at Cork University Maternity Hospital in 2024. He joined Mater Private Network as a Consultant Gynaecologist in 2025.
Dr. Galvin completed a postgraduate research degree through University College Cork from 2021-23 in the area of surgical training in operative gynaecology. Through this training he has a broad range of experience caring for women with a variety of gynaecological problems.
Special Interests
Dr. Galvin has a broad range of experience in all areas of operative gynaecology, employing minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to treat all aspect of women’s health problems including endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, prolapse, urinary incontinence, and menstrual problems. He has training and experience in laparoscopy, often referred to as keyhole surgery, and uses these methods to perform surgeries such as hysterectomy, excision of endometriosis, ovarian cystectomy and oophorectomy in a minimally invasive way to maximise patient recovery. He also has expertise in operative hysteroscopy, employing these techniques to treat uterine polyps and fibroids, common causes of menstrual problems.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Galvin is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI). He holds a diploma in obstetrics and women’s health from the RCPI. He has been awarded an MD degree for his research work through University College Cork. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals in the areas of surgical training, gynaecology and pelvic floor surgery.
