About
Education & Experience
Dr. Bobby O’Leary is a Consultant Urogynaecologist at Mater Private Network in Dublin.
Dr. O’Leary’s internship and basic obstetrics and gynaecology training was in St. Vincent’s Hospital, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, and the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin. He completed his higher specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, the Rotunda Hospital, the National Maternity Hospital, and University Hospital Galway. In parallel to his specialist training, he gained a Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from University College Dublin where he investigated the effects of the length of labour on pelvic floor dysfunction. His urogynaecology fellowship was based in the National Maternity Hospital, Dublin, Cork University Maternity Hospital, and Belfast City Hospital. He joined Mater Private Network as a Consultant Urogynaecologist in 2025.
Special Interests
Dr. O’Leary’s specialty interests are in the field of urogynaecology and pelvic floor dysfunction. His specific areas of expertise and main research interests include the management of primary and recurrent pelvic organ prolapse, surgical management of stress incontinence, medical and surgical management of urge incontinence, overactive bladder, bladder pain syndrome, ultrasound imaging of the pelvic floor, and pelvic floor dysfunction following childbirth.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. O’Leary is a member of the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) and the European Urogynecology Association (EUGA), and sits on the EUGA Scientific Committee. He is a member of both the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in the United Kingdom, where he sits on the Part 1 MRCOG – Basic Sciences Exam subcommittee.
He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications, including the most recent National Clinical Guideline for the Diagnosis and Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse. Additionally, Dr O’Leary is on the editorial board of the BioMed Central (BMC) journal “Pregnancy and Childbirth”.
