Mater Private Network leads the way in Cardiac Care with Opening of New Multimillion Euro Cath Lab Suite
Mater Private Network has announced the opening of its new, state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab) at its Eccles Street hospital, representing a significant €8 million investment in its cardiovascular services.
The new Cath Lab suite, part of a broader expansion to Mater Private Network’s cardiology services, will significantly enhance patient care, providing 24/7 access to cardiac procedures and testing, while reducing overall wait times and facilitating a better experience for patients.
With four Cath Labs in its flagship Dublin hospital and two in its Cork facility, Mater Private Network now operates six state-of-the-art Cath Labs offering 24/7 access, making the Network the unrivalled leader in private cardiac care in Ireland.
Speaking at the opening of the new Cath Lab suite in Eccles St, Professor Robert Byrne, Director of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at Mater Private Network noted: "With this opening, we’re improving both our capacity to treat patients and further enhancing the patient experience which in turn reduces pressure on patients and their families. With four Cath Labs in Dublin combined with 24/7 access to accommodate patient needs, we have combined cutting-edge technology with efficient patient flow to enhance levels of cardiac care for all. This not only allows us to provide unparalleled patient care here in Ireland, but further establishes Mater Private as a centre of cardiac excellence in Europe and in fact, globally.”
As part of this expansion, the Network’s team of cardiology consultants has more than doubled in the last five years and now consists of 40 cardiologists, with a breadth of expertise across a number of specialties including coronary intervention, structural heart disease, electrophysiology, heart failure, and cardiac imaging.
The new Cath Lab is equipped with the latest Siemens Artis Icono imaging system, supporting minimally invasive procedures for conditions such as congenital heart disease and aortic stenosis. The new Cath Lab can also be used for open-heart surgery, further increasing capacity for complex cardiac interventions throughout the Mater Private Network.
John Hurley, CEO of Mater Private Network, highlighted the importance of this wider investment in capacity and patient care, explaining: "With this new Cath Lab suite, we are well-positioned to continue providing high-quality cardiovascular care to our patients, effectively and efficiently, with simplicity. None of this work would be possible without our exemplary team of cardiac professionals and support staff, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their ongoing commitment and support."
