Speaker: Prof. Stefan Blankenberg
Title: "AI based concepts to rule out and diagnose myocardial infarction. Will new concepts improve clinical routine?"
After studying medicine in Mainz, Frankfurt and New York, Stefan Blankenberg got his MD thesis in 1998. In September 2005, he was nominated as full professor of medicine and became a faculty member of the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz. In January 2007, Stefan Blankenberg became leading senior physician and deputy director of the Department of Medicine II at Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. In April 2011 he has been appointed Director of the Clinic for Cardiology at the University Heart & Vascular Center Hamburg. Since January 2018 he has been Medical Director of the University Heart & Vascular Center Hamburg.
Stefan Blankenberg has received a number of awards and prizes from institutions such as the German Society of Cardiology; the German Heart Foundation; the European Society of Cardiology and the Johannes-Gutenberg University, Mainz.
Stefan Blankenberg is President-Elect (2025-2027) of the German Society of Cardiology (DGK). He is speaker of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) for the NORD site, member of several international committees, ESC fellow and member of the Global Cardiovascular Risk Consortium (GCVRC) management group. Furthermore, he is chair of the study board of the DEDICATE-DZHK6 trial, steering committee member of the MORGAM Consortium and the Hamburg City Health Study.
His main research interest is focused on individualized cardiovascular medicine with particular focus on acute coronary syndrome and heart failure as well as valvular heart diseases, atherosclerosis, biomarkers, vascular disease, cardiovascular epidemiology, genomics and population research.
Stefan Blankenberg has published numerous papers in journals like NEJM, Nature Genetics, JAMA, Circulation, JACC, European Heart Journal and The Lancet.
