Senior Medical Scientist - Haematology

An opportunity has arisen in our laboratory department for a senior medical scientist in haematology.

This is a 9 month, fixed term contract.

Purpose of the post:

To be responsible for the provision of an efficient, effective accredited laboratory service for the patients of Mater Private Network.

Professional qualifications, registration, essential skills & knowledge

Candidates must:

a) Possess the Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street.

or

b) Possess the Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork - Cork Institute of Technology course.

or

c) Possess the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994.

or

d) Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (a) or (b) above.

e) Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (c) awarded prior to 1994.

and

f) Possess a postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science.

or

g) Have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Science.

and

h) Must be registered with CORU or eligible for membership upon completion of study or eligible for membership and in the process of applying for state registration.

and

i) Possess Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (FACSLM) or be eligible for Fellowship.
