About

Education & Experience 

Dr. Tayyib Hayat joined Mater Private Network in Dublin as a Consultant Neurologist in 2025. He graduated from Imperial College London School of Medicine from the combined MBBS / PhD programme. He also obtained a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience and Mental Health, and a Diploma in Medical Imaging. His clinical training involved a neuroscience fellowship at the Wessex Neurological Centre, and an academic clinical fellowship at the University of Nottingham, UK. Following completion of his neurology training, he continued to practise in the East Midlands, with a focus on the Neuroinflammatory Disorders clinic at University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust.

Dr. Hayat has received several national and international awards, including:

  • University of Nottingham Research Reward Scheme 
  • Imperial College Award for Outstanding Achievement
  • International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Educational Grant
  • International Foetal Medicine and Surgery Society Young Investigator Grant
  • Association of British Neurologists Bursary

Special Interests 

Dr. Hayat offers care for patients in all areas of adult neurology, including headache, epilepsy, movement disorders, peripheral nerve disease, neurogenetics, and with a sub-specialty interest in Multiple Sclerosis.

 

Clinical Research & Professional Memberships 

Dr. Hayat’s doctoral research was funded by the Medical Research Council (UK) and explored novel MRI techniques to study early brain development. This was followed by an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship which combined his run through clinical training in neurology with research into neuroinflammatory and pain signalling pathways. His most recent research was conducted at the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre in Nottingham, UK; this involved patient recruitment and clinical assessments for a longitudinal study of brain changes in the initial stages of Parkinson’s Disease.

Dr. Hayat is a member of the Association of British Neurologists, and European Academy of Neurology, and has been a visiting fellow at the Centre for Brain Development, King’s College London.
