Inspiring the Next Generation: Transition Year Students Explore Healthcare Careers at Mater Private Network
Last month, over 250 transition year students from 14 local secondary schools, including select schools with the DEIS (Delivery of Opportunity in Schools) programme, gathered at Technological University (TU) Dublin for a unique introduction to healthcare careers at Mater Private Network. The event showcased the diverse roles within the healthcare sector, featuring interactive presentations, virtual department tours, and engaging Q&A sessions with healthcare professionals.
The partnership between Mater Private Network and TU Dublin aims to combat the global shortage of healthcare professionals by inspiring young talent. During the event, students explored a variety of fields, including nursing, cardiology, physiotherapy, radiology and essential support roles such as administration and catering. Through guided college tours and firsthand insights, the initiative highlighted the importance of both clinical and non-clinical careers in healthcare delivery.
The programme reflects a shared vision of strengthening ties between education and healthcare, guiding students toward informed career choices while emphasising the critical role educational institutions play in shaping future professionals. By providing a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape, this initiative seeks to motivate young people to pursue rewarding careers that will positively impact local and global healthcare systems.
