Mid-Western Radiation Oncology Centre: over 10,000 patients treated in the last 15 years

Since it opened in 2005, the Mid-Western Radiation Oncology Centre has renewed the lives of tens of thousands of families in Clare and Tipperary, in Cork and Kerry, and of course in Limerick. A profound community need met by a visionary local trust. Saving hours in the day and years in the life.

Located on the grounds of the University Hospital Limerick, this centre was built with the support of the local Mid-Western Hospital Development charitable trust, in direct response to a clear local need, and is operated by Mater Private Network – a leading provider of Radiotherapy in Ireland.

The centre which delivers comprehensive treatments for both private and public patients diagnosed with cancer, as part of a multi-disciplinary patient centric approach, has been in operation for over 15 years and has treated more than 10,000 patients from the mid-west region during this time.

This local collaborative project between the HSE Mid-West, the Mid-Western Hospitals Development Trust and Mater Private Network has had a significant impact on cancer patients in the region, enabling patients to access personalised treatment, near their home and with the support of their family and friends.
